Past Experience

Endemaño Walker first joined UCSB as a post-doctoral scholar at the National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis. Her research development work has been informed by her own research career, conducting mixed-methods, interdisciplinary research on human-environment relationships in Ghana, French Polynesia, and California, which has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, and NOAA Sea Grant, among others. Her work on diversity and inclusion has been funded by the Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, and the Elsevier Foundation. She has expertise in social science and ethnographic research methods and analysis, including evaluation, surveys, interviews, participant observation, mental mapping, and qualitative and quantitative analysis and software. Her research has been published in several journals and book chapters, and she frequently serves as a grant reviewer for federal agencies and private funders, such as the National Science Foundation, NOAA Sea Grant, the Social Science Research Council, and the American Association of University Women (AAUW). She served as a Council Member and Vice President for Finance at the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Educators (AHSIE) from 2015-2018.
