Strategic Alliances Travel Award

The NORDP Strategic Alliances Committee is pleased to announce travel awards available for NORDP members to represent NORDP at relevant scholarly and professional meetings during the 2017-18 fiscal year.

Purpose:

The purpose of travel awards is to:

  • Further NORDP's mission and goals (http://www.nordp.org/about-us)
  • Increase the visibility of NORDP nationally and internationally, and/or
  • Provide research development expertise to underrepresented groups such as, but not limited to the Minority Serving Institutions Research Partnership Consortium, the Latina Researchers Network, the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, the National Society of Black Engineers, etc., and/or
  • Forge strategic and substantive relationships, partnerships, and collaborations with relevant funding agencies and scholarly and professional organizations such as, but not limited to INORMS, CARA, SRA, NCURA, AAAS, etc.

Eligibility:

You must be a NORDP member in good standing at the time of application and at the time of the professional meeting that you plan to attend.  Your attendance at a meeting must be substantive, meaning that you should be giving a presentation or workshop, meet with the organization’s leadership to discuss or plan partnerships, and/or have a comparable presence in the meeting program. 

Budget:

The travel award will pay for travel, lodging, registration, and meals up to $750 per person/event for domestic travel, and up to $1250 per person/event for international travel.  You are expected to apply for any registration waivers or discounts, as well as any awards that may be available for the target meeting that you plan to attend.  All expenses must be paid for initially by the award applicant, and will be promptly reimbursed upon submission of:

  • Your original receipts to the NORDP Treasurer ([email protected], and
  • An e-mailed or teleconferenced description of your activities and outcomes to the Strategic Alliances Working Group.

Deadline and Award Information:

Applications are accepted on a continual basis until funding is exhausted.  Applications must be submitted at least two months in advance of the event, and will be reviewed by a committee of Strategic Alliance and board members.  Award decisions will be based on the following criteria:

  • Applicability of the proposed meeting to NORDP mission and goals.
  • Experience of applicant in relation to proposed presentation, workshop, or networking activities.
  • Past involvement of applicant in NORDP leadership, working groups, and volunteer activities.
